tan

Returns the tangent of an angle given in radians.

Keyboard Maestro: TAN

Details #

tan(angle) takes exactly one argument, an angle in radians, and returns a number.

Parameters #

Takes 1 argument. {{ tan(text) }}

Examples #

tan(0)
→ 0
round(tan(0.7853982), 4)
→ 1

Gotchas #

  • Calling it with no argument or two arguments is an error: tan() takes 1 argument, got 2.

  • Anything that isn't a number is an error: tan() needs a number, got text. Numeric text such as "0.5" is accepted.

  • Near a quarter turn (1.5707963 radians) the result is a very large number, not an error.
