macUUID

Details #

macUUID() takes no arguments and returns text: the hardware UUID of this Mac. It stays the same across restarts and reinstalls. Use it to tell one Mac from another.

Gotchas #

• Calling it with any argument is an error: macUUID() takes 0 arguments, got 1.

• When no real Mac is behind it (tests, previews) or the Mac can't answer, it returns empty text.
