appInfo

Returns the name, path, bundle ID or version of an app.

Details #

appInfo(field) and appInfo(field, app) take one or two arguments and return text.

field is name, path, bundleID, version (the short version, such as 14.2) or longVersion (the build number). Any other word gives the name.

app names the app by its name, bundle ID or file path. Leave it out, or pass empty text, for the front app.

Takes 1 to 2 arguments. {{ appInfo(text, b?) }}

Gotchas #

  • An app that can't be found gives empty text, not an error.

  • Calling it with no argument is an error: appInfo() takes 1 to 2 arguments, got 0.
