asin

Returns the arcsine of a number, as an angle in radians.

Keyboard Maestro: ASIN

Details #

asin(x) takes exactly one argument, a number from -1 to 1, and returns an angle in radians between -1.5708 and 1.5708.

Parameters #

Takes 1 argument. {{ asin(text) }}

Examples #

asin(0)
→ 0
round(asin(1) * 2, 4)
→ 3.1416

Gotchas #

  • Calling it with no argument or two arguments is an error: asin() takes 1 argument, got 2.

  • Anything that isn't a number is an error: asin() needs a number, got text. Numeric text such as "0.5" is accepted.

  • A number outside -1 to 1 has no arcsine; the step stops with asin() has no result for that number.
