keyRepeatDelay

Returns how long a key is held before it starts repeating, in seconds.

Keyboard Maestro: KEYREPEATDELAY

Details #

keyRepeatDelay() takes no arguments and returns the system's delay before a held key repeats, in seconds.

Parameters #

Takes 0 arguments. {{ keyRepeatDelay() }}

Examples #

keyRepeatDelay()
→ 0

Gotchas #

  • Modern macOS shows an accent picker for some held keys instead of repeating them, but the setting is still reported.

  • Calling it with any argument is an error: keyRepeatDelay() takes 0 arguments, got 1.

  • When no real Mac is behind it (tests, previews) or the Mac can't answer, it returns 0.
