clipboardSeed

Returns a number that changes whenever the clipboard changes.

Details #

clipboardSeed() takes no arguments and returns a number: the system clipboard's change count. It goes up each time anything is copied, so read it, copy something, read it again and compare the two to learn whether the clipboard changed.

Gotchas #

  • The value means nothing on its own; only compare it with an earlier reading.

  • The count restarts after a restart or logout, so don't save it for later.
