What’s New

Every change that reaches the app, newest first.

Smoother runs and edits

November 2, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

Running a macro now shows itself: the Run button changes while it works, a checkmark draws in when it finishes, and a failure slides in with a nudge. New and duplicated steps glow for a moment so you can see where they landed, and turning a macro off fades it rather than snapping. With Reduce Motion on, everything still changes, just without the movement.

Try it on the Mac. Press ⌘R on any macro and watch the checkmark beside its name.

Sign in to Google APIs

November 2, 2026 · Mac

Save a Google sign-in once in Settings > Sign-ins > Accounts, then give any http step an oauth name and it calls Tag Manager, Analytics or Search Console as that account. The token is renewed for you, and you can keep several accounts side by side.

Try it on the Mac. Settings > Sign-ins > Add Google Account, sign in, then add oauth: your account name to an http step.

Read and find values in text

November 2, 2026 · Mac

Read dates, colours, durations, numbers and links out of text. parseDate, parseDuration, parseNumber, parseColor and parseURL turn text into values a macro can use; formatDate, formatDuration and formatColor write them back. The new Find in Text step, and find and findFirst in expressions, pull every date, link, email, phone number, address, flight, colour, number, price, duration, hashtag or mention out of a block of text.

Try it on the Mac. Add a Find in Text step, pick Link, and give it some text.

Pick your AI

October 31, 2026 · Mac

Use your own OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic key, or any OpenAI-compatible server such as OpenRouter, Ollama or LM Studio. Then name your choices as presets, like Intelligent for Claude Opus and Fast for Claude Sonnet, and pick one for any AI step, condition, Make with AI or Ask AI about the screen.

Try it on the Mac. Settings > AI has Presets and Providers. Each step's Inspector has a Model menu. A Test button checks a key with one real message.

Answer a Save sheet by its labels

October 31, 2026 · Mac

A new step waits for a sheet, dialog or file panel, fills it in by the label beside each field, pop-up and checkbox, and presses a button by its name. No more "pause, type, Tab, Tab, Return" that breaks when the sheet is slow or gets a new field.

Try it on the Mac. Add Answer a dialog, open the dialog in its app and choose Read Dialog to pick its labels. Recording a click or two inside a sheet writes it for you.

Bring all of BetterTouchTool

October 31, 2026 · Mac

The BetterTouchTool import now knows every trigger and action BetterTouchTool has. Gestures, shortcuts, mouse buttons, app and device triggers, conditions, variables and scripts become macros that run; window actions run in the free Window extension, and what Switchboard leaves out says why.

Try it on the Mac. Choose BetterTouchTool on this Mac in the Import Center: no export needed. The review offers to install Window in one click.

Right-click menus, by name

October 31, 2026 · Mac

A new step opens an element's right-click menu and chooses an item by its title, submenus included, without moving the mouse. “Right-click the message, choose Mark as Read” works the same in Mail, Finder, Slack and Chrome.

Try it on the Mac. Add Choose from a context menu, point it at the element, and press Choose… to pick the item. Recording a right click writes it for you.

Find actions by what they do

October 31, 2026 · Mac

Read text from a picture, Take a screenshot, Snap a window, Clear the clipboard, Mute the microphone, Change the case of text, Calculate, and Encode or decode text now have their own entries in the block picker, each with an inspector made for the task. Macros you already have open in them.

Try it on the Mac. Search the Add menu for ocr, screenshot, snap or calculate. Read text from a picture can try itself on a sample picture.

Webhooks wait for a sleeping Mac

October 31, 2026 · Mac

A webhook sent to your public address while your Mac is asleep is no longer turned away. The server keeps it for up to three days and your Mac runs it, in order, when it wakes.

Try it on the Mac. Open a webhook trigger on the internet and see If this Mac is away. Settings > Webhooks shows what is waiting, with Discard.

A progress message for long runs

October 31, 2026 · Mac

A long macro can now say how far along it is. Give a Repeat a progress label and it shows "Exporting · 3 of 7" with a bar and a Cancel button, then turns into a check when it finishes, or into the failure if a step goes wrong.

Try it on the Mac. Cancel stops the run. From the keyboard, open the menu bar item and choose Stop (Command-period while the menu is open).

Recording that means what you did

October 31, 2026 · Mac

The Recorder now writes menu commands, settings, app switches and copy and paste as the steps they mean. Choose File › Export, set a pop-up to JPEG, switch to Mail, copy a name and type it again: the steps read like a sentence and run in the background.

Try it on the Mac. Record as before with ⇧⌘R. A menu shortcut like ⌘S becomes File › Save, and typing what you copied becomes {{copied}}.

Bring your Alfred and Raycast keywords

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Import an Alfred workflow, your whole Alfred preferences folder, or a folder of Raycast script commands. Keywords such as gh or tr keep working in the palette and take the text you type after them, and a script filter shows its results as a list. Web searches, quicklinks and snippets come along.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File > Import…, then an Alfred workflow or preferences folder, or Raycast scripts or JSON. Their hotkeys come in off until you take over.

Read what any app shows

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Take the rows of a list out of Mail, Finder, Numbers or Activity Monitor as a table, with from, subject and date as columns. Read the whole text of a note, a document or a terminal, copy every link in a window, or save the images in it. And run a macro when a label changes, a new row appears or the selection moves.

Try it on the Mac. Add a step, choose Read rows, and click Pick rows… then click any row of the list you want. The Read apps group has five macros to start from.

Snippets without the clipboard

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Snippets and Type Text now put text straight into the field you are in, the way an edit would. Your clipboard is left alone, nothing is typed key by key, and one Undo in the app takes the text back. An app that doesn't allow it gets the old way, and Switchboard checks the field afterwards so an app that says yes and does nothing is caught.

Try it on the Mac. Settings > Library > Typing lists apps that should always paste or type keys. A Type Text step in Activity offers Always Paste in that app.

Captured text finds its actions

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Drag over a tracking number, an email address or a link on screen and, as well as landing on the clipboard, it opens the same actions you get from Control-Option-Space: track the package, start an email, open the page. Ordinary text behaves exactly as before.

Try it on the Mac. Press Control-Shift-2 and drag over a tracking number. The actions open beside the Copied message; Esc closes them.

Custom panels

October 30, 2026 · Mac

A macro can now show its own small window: a title, pictures, buttons, text fields, sliders, pickers, a table of results or a chart, drawn with real Mac controls in the same glass panel as prompts. A later step can move a progress bar, change a line of text or read what you typed while the panel is still showing.

Try it on the Mac. Add Show a panel to a macro and build the window in the Inspector. Two examples are in Examples: a live download and a settings form.

Hold to talk is ready at once

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Your first Hold to Talk used to wait several seconds while the speech model loaded. Switchboard now loads it when it starts, as long as one of your macros dictates. If none does, nothing is loaded, and loading never turns the microphone on.

Try it on the Mac. Nothing to do. Hold to talk answers on the first try after Switchboard starts.

Help is easier to find

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Help now has a button in the toolbar and a Documentation row in the sidebar, and the inspector's Help button opens the page for the step, trigger or condition you have selected. Every link in the documentation opens inside the window, tables line up, and clicking a folder in the contents shows a list of its pages.

Try it on the Mac. Use Help in the toolbar, or Control-? on a selected block. SDK pages have downloadable samples.

Make a group for one app

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Groups now have a Runs in menu: pick Safari and every macro in the group works only while Safari is in front. It is in the New Group sheet and at the top of a selected group's macro list, with the apps you have open listed first. A group for one app shows the app's name beside it in the sidebar.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File > New Group, then Runs in. Change it any time from the top of the group's list.

Runs wait for the Mac

October 30, 2026 · Mac

A file lands while your Mac is locked, a schedule fires with the screen off, an app the macro clicks in isn't running: the run now waits instead of failing. The menu bar shows how many are held, and each one starts the moment the Mac can do it.

Try it on the Mac. See Held in the menu bar and Waiting in Activity. In a macro's inspector, When it can't run chooses hold, skip or run anyway.

Keep your keywords when you import

October 30, 2026 · Mac

When you import from LaunchBar, Alfred or Raycast, the review now has a Keyword column. Change a keyword to the one you already type, and a note appears if another macro uses it, then import.

Try it on the Mac. File > Import…, choose a LaunchBar, Alfred or Raycast source, and edit the Keyword next to each macro in the review.

Hold Option-Space to act on it

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Tap Option-Space to search, as always. Hold it with something selected and the palette opens as the actions for that instead: a link, an email address, a tracking number, a file in Finder. Press Delete on the empty field to go back to plain search.

Try it on the Mac. Hold Option-Space for a third of a second over a selection. Turn it off, or change the hold time, in Settings > General > Palette.

Import your LaunchBar actions

October 30, 2026 · Mac

LaunchBar actions come in as macros. Each gets a keyword made from its name's initials, so Open Pull Request is opr: type it in the palette, then the text it takes. Actions that return a list show it as a list you pick from, and JavaScript actions keep working.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File › Import…, then LaunchBar actions on this Mac, or choose an .lbaction. Check the keywords, then take over.

Act on several macros at once

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Command-click or Shift-click rows in the macro list, then right-click to disable, enable, favorite, duplicate, move or delete all of them in one go. One Undo brings them all back, and the Macro menu follows the selection too.

Try it on the Mac. Select several macros and right-click, or use the Macro menu. The menu counts what it will change, such as Disable 3 Macros.

New Extension, without AI

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Extensions > Develop has a New Extension button. Name it, pick what it adds (an action, a trigger, a function and 20 more kinds), and Switchboard saves a working example in your Develop folder and opens it in your editor.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File > New Extension, or press New Extension in Extensions > Develop.

Start a macro from any notification

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Slack says someone mentioned you, Xcode says the build succeeded, your bank sends an alert: any notification can now start a macro. Pick the app, say what the title or body should contain, and the macro gets the text. Notifications a Focus kept off the screen count too, so one macro can collect what you missed.

Try it on the Mac. Add a trigger and pick When an app notifies. Allow Full Disk Access in Settings > Permissions to see every one.

Paste as

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Press Control-Option-V instead of Command-V to paste what you copied as plain text, Markdown, JSON, text from a picture or a file, with a preview of each, or type an instruction and have AI rewrite it on the way in.

Try it on the Mac. Press Control-Option-V in any app, or type paste in the palette.

Tiles that don't wait for iCloud

October 30, 2026 · iPhone

When your iPhone and your Mac are on the same Wi-Fi, a tile now goes straight to the Mac and starts at once. Away from home, or with the Mac asleep, it still goes through iCloud, so a tap is never lost.

Try it on the iPhone. Run a tile once. Switchboard explains why iOS wants your local network, then asks. Settings > Local network shows whether your Mac was found.

Why a Mac can't run your macro

October 30, 2026 · Mac

When a step runs a macro on another Mac and that Mac doesn't share the macro, the Run on setting now says so, and says what to do there: open Switchboard on that Mac and expose the macro. Switchboard never switches it on from the Mac that asks, because sharing is each Mac's own choice.

Try it on the Mac. Choose a Mac in a Run macro step's Run on. A line under it says if the macro can't run there and why.

Conditions you pick, not type

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Only if and States now use real pickers. Front app lists the apps running now, the one in front first, then apps you use in macros, every app, and Other App. Wi-Fi, displays, USB devices, days, times, battery level and keys have their own controls, and each condition says whether it is true right now.

Try it on the Mac. Open any macro's Only if, or a State, and pick a condition.

A bar of actions over selected text

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Select some text in any app and a slim bar of icons fades in above it: Copy, Search the web, Open link, Look up, Translate, Rewrite and any macro you make. Click one, or press Command-1 to Command-8, and it acts on the text. Actions that give text back replace the selection.

Try it on the Mac. File > New > Selection Action makes your own icon. Settings > Library > Selection bar sets when the bar shows.

Set a setting, don't click it

October 30, 2026 · Mac

A new step puts a checkbox, switch, slider, pop-up menu or tab in the state you name, and does nothing when it is already there. A macro that turns on Reduce motion leaves it on, however many times it runs.

Try it on the Mac. Add Set a control, point it at the control, say what it should be. Recording a checkbox or tab click writes it for you.

Limits on any trigger

October 30, 2026 · Mac

Every trigger now has a Limits section: the first time each day, every 3rd time, twice within 2 seconds, a cooldown, a chance, only while you are at the Mac, only on one Mac, only in a State. You tick a box where you used to keep a counter in a variable.

Try it on the Mac. Add an Unlock trigger and open Limits: At most once a day. Unlock twice and it runs once; Activity > Limits says why.

Open apps from the palette

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Type a few letters of an app's name in the palette and press Return: Safari opens, or comes to the front if it is running. The apps you open most come first, and the first letters of the words work too (vsc for Visual Studio Code).

Try it on the Mac. Press ⌥Space, type saf, press Return. ⌥Return on a running app opens a new window. Turn it off in Settings › General › Palette.

Import Automator and Shortcuts

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Quick Actions, workflows and folder actions from Automator, and every shortcut in the Shortcuts app, come in as macros. The common Automator actions become steps you can read; any other workflow still runs, unchanged, through a new Run Automator workflow step. A Quick Action's Services shortcut becomes its hotkey.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File › Import…, then Automator and Shortcuts on this Mac. Or drop a .workflow file on the window.

Copy text from anywhere on screen

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Press Control-Shift-2 and drag over anything you can't select: a paused video, a screenshot, a scanned PDF, an error dialog. Its text lands on the clipboard. QR codes and barcodes give their contents.

Try it on the Mac. Press ⌃⇧2 and drag. Hold ⌥ as you let go to join the lines, ⇧ for a table. Allow Screen Recording if asked.

Click by letters

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Press ⌘⇧Space and a short letter label appears on every button, link, tab and field in the front window. Type the letters and that thing is clicked, no mouse needed. Start typing a word instead and the labels narrow to what matches. It works in Safari, Mail, Xcode and, with a little help, Slack and other Electron apps.

Try it on the Mac. Press ⌘⇧Space in any app, type a label to click it or a word to search. The hotkey is the Click by letters macro in Examples.

Clipboard actions

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Press Command-K on anything you copied to clean a link, reformat a color, pretty-print JSON, read the text in a picture or rewrite with AI, each with a live before and after. The actions are ordinary macros you can edit, and one can fix every link as you copy it.

Try it on the Mac. Open the clipboard panel (Control-Option-Command-V), select a copy and press Command-K.

Hold a key and talk

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Hold Fn and Space, speak, and let go: your words appear where you were typing, punctuated, with the ums and false starts gone. Speech is recognised on your Mac, and the cleanup runs on your Mac too. In Slack it can come out casual, in Mail in full sentences, in Xcode as a code comment.

Try it on the Mac. Hold Fn Space and talk. macOS asks about the microphone once. Settings › Library › Dictation sets the key, language and app styles.

Drag a file, drop it on a macro

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Start dragging a file, picture, folder, text or link and push the pointer to the edge of the screen: a column of drop targets slides out. Drop on one and its macro runs with what you dropped. Drop on the Shelf and the things wait there while you collect more from other windows, then drag the whole stack out to where it goes.

Try it on the Mac. Drag something to the right edge, shake the pointer, or drag onto the menu bar icon. File › New Drop Target makes your own.

Coming from Hazel: rules, in order

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Import a Hazel export and each watched folder becomes one macro, with every rule a named step in Hazel's order: the first rule a file matches runs and stops. The file actions Hazel's rules need are now real steps too: move, copy, rename from a pattern, sort into a subfolder, tag, color label, comment, zip, unzip and Trash. They also work in macros you write yourself.

Try it on the Mac. File › Import…, pick a .hazelrules file, tick that Hazel is paused, and import.

Keep the Mac awake, then let it sleep

October 29, 2026 · Mac

A new Keep awake step holds the Mac awake for a time, until a time, or only while something stays true: an app is running, a download is in progress, you are on power. It lets go by itself, and a battery floor ends it before the battery runs low.

Try it on the Mac. Type awake in the palette to keep the Mac awake for a while. A cup shows on the menu bar icon, and the menu lists each hold with Stop.

The palette learns what you meant

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Choose a row for something you typed in the palette, and that row comes first the next time. Type sf, pick Safari once, and sf finds Safari first from then on. It works for every kind of row: macros, apps, menu items, snippets.

Try it on the Mac. Choose a row in the palette once. Next time it sits first, under For ‘sf’. ⌘⌫ forgets it; Settings › General › Palette turns learning off.

Calculations in the palette

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Type 1299 * 1.0825, 3 ft in cm, 14:00 Tokyo or today + 45 days into the palette and the answer is the first row. Return copies it, Option-Return types it into the app you were in. It all runs on your Mac, with no network.

Try it on the Mac. Press Option-Space and type a calculation. Turn it off under Settings › General › Palette › Calculator.

Run a macro on another Mac

October 29, 2026 · Mac

A hotkey on your laptop can now start the recording, open the project or run the backup on your desktop. Pick the Mac in a Run macro step, or type a macro's name in the palette and choose it under “On Mac Studio”. It goes straight over your network when it can and through iCloud when it can't, and a Mac that is asleep runs it when it wakes.

Try it on the Mac. Pick a Mac in a Run macro step's Run on menu, or type a macro's name in the palette. Settings › Macs lists your Macs.

Lock, sleep and quit from the palette

October 29, 2026 · Mac

Type lock, sleep, empty trash, dark or mute in the palette and press Return. Type quit and every running app is listed with the memory it uses, such as Quit Xcode, 3.1 GB. Option-Return force quits.

Try it on the Mac. Open the palette with Option-Space and type a command. Turn the rows off in Settings under General, Palette.

Act on what you're looking at

October 29, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

Select text, point at a file, or open a link, and press Control-Option-Space. Switchboard works out what you are on (a link, an email address, a tracking number, a ticket number you taught it) and lists the macros that take it, with Open, Copy and Search ready. Share text or a link from your iPhone and it lists the same actions, run on your Mac.

Try it on the Mac. Press Control-Option-Space over a selection, a Finder file or a Mail message. Settings > Library > Things teaches it types of your own.

Try it on the iPhone. Share text or a link to Switchboard from any app, then tap an action to run it on your Mac.

A tidier list, and more in the menu bar

October 27, 2026 · Mac

The macro list can be sorted by name, last run, runs today or when you edited it, and can hide the macros that are off. Search now looks in descriptions too. The menu bar gets a Run menu with your favorites and what you ran lately, plus New Macro and Settings.

Try it on the Mac. Use the arrows above the macro list, or View › Sort By. Open the Switchboard menu bar icon and choose Run.

A step where AI uses tools

October 26, 2026 · Mac

A new step, Ask AI to do it with tools, lets a model work out a small job on its own inside a macro. You choose the tools it may use, how many calls and how long it gets, and anything that can change something asks you first.

Try it on the Mac. Add the step, then choose Add Tool in its inspector to pick macros, extension actions or an MCP server's tools. Set the limits and when it should ask.

Let Claude Code work in your apps

October 26, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

An agent such as Claude Code can now find buttons and fields in a Mac app, read what is on screen and click or type, but only after you allow it, only in the apps it names, and only for a few minutes. When it finishes, what it did becomes a draft macro you can read and keep.

Try it on the Mac. Turn on Direct control in Settings › Agents. While a session is live, the menu bar offers Stop Claude Code.

Safari, Chrome and web scraping

October 26, 2026 · Mac

Switchboard has an extension for Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi. Macros start from pages, put CSS, HTML and JavaScript in them, click, fill and read, and manage tabs. Pages can run macros and get results back. You can also scrape any page into rows, with or without a browser open, and watch a page for a price drop.

Try it on the Mac. Open Settings, then Browsers, and follow your browser's row. Then try the Browser examples.

Generalize and Tidy

October 26, 2026 · Mac

After you record a macro, Generalize turns the literal clicks into something reusable: a loop over what repeated, waits where a window changed, and inputs for text you typed by hand. Tidy Up does the same kind of cleanup for imported macros, with readable names and calls to macros you already have. You read the changes before anything is saved.

Try it on the Mac. After a recording, click Generalize in the banner (Option-Return), or choose Macro › Generalize… or Tidy Up with AI (Shift-Option-Command-I).

Macro tests

October 26, 2026 · Mac

A test runs your macro sealed off from your Mac, with a pretend front app, clipboard and clock, and says whether it gave back what you expected. Checks look for the buttons, menu items and apps a macro depends on, without clicking anything, so a macOS update that breaks one is named.

Try it on the Mac. In Activity, choose Save as Test on a run that worked. In the editor, Macro › Run Tests (Control-Command-T) runs a macro's tests and checks.

Make an extension with AI

October 26, 2026 · Mac

Describe an extension in a sentence: an action, a trigger, a condition, a sensor or a menu bar item. Claude writes it as TypeScript, Switchboard compiles and checks it before you see anything, and you read what it does and the permissions it asks for, in words. Nothing runs until you install it.

Try it on the Mac. Open Extensions, choose Develop and type in the Make with AI field, or press Command-I.

A guide for granting permissions

October 26, 2026 · Mac

Allow… opens System Settings with Switchboard Engine already in the list, and a small guide on the window shows which switch to turn on. When it's on, the guide closes, the row turns green and you're back in Switchboard.

Try it on the Mac. Click Allow… on a permission in the Welcome or in Settings › Permissions.

An Inspector that completes variables

October 25, 2026 · Mac

The Inspector now completes variables and earlier results as you type, shows where each value comes from, and previews your text with sample data before the macro runs.

Try it on the Mac. Select a step and type {{ in its text field, or choose Insert above the field. Open Example result to see the text with sample values.

Your apps' actions, as steps

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Every Mac app that has Shortcuts actions now shows up in Switchboard as steps, conditions and palette rows. Complete a to-do, start a focus, add a note, without the app doing anything. Apps that want to can also offer triggers, like Day's Focus started.

Try it on the Mac. Open the add-step picker and look under Apps, or type a few words in the palette (Option-Space): app actions appear next to your macros.

Guardrails: check before it happens

October 25, 2026 · Mac

A macro can now run before a key, a click on a button or Quit reaches an app, and decide: let it through, block it with a reason, or ask Send anyway? It can catch a missing attachment, a work mail sent from your personal address, a quit with unsaved work, a push on a Friday afternoon.

Try it on the Mac. Press Command-Return in Mail with a message that says attached and has no attachment: a small panel asks first. Return cancels, Command-Return sends.

Add a step by finishing a sentence

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Adding a trigger, a condition or a step now works the same way everywhere. Pick what it's about (the clipboard, a file, an app, you), then what to do with it, each with a line saying what it does. The new row reads as a sentence before you add it.

Try it on the Mac. Command-Return adds a step, Option-Command-Return a trigger, Control-Command-Return a condition. Type to search everything, or browse.

Any API, tool or Service becomes steps

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Point Switchboard at an OpenAPI or GraphQL address, a command-line tool, or the apps already on your Mac, and each endpoint, command and Service becomes a step with its own form. Apps that answer back through x-callback-url work in both directions.

Try it on the Mac. In Terminal: switchboard api add <address>, switchboard cli add <tool>, or switchboard scan. Then search the Add step picker.

Welcome to Switchboard

October 25, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

Switchboard runs your Mac for you: a keystroke, a clipboard change, an app opening or a time of day starts a macro, and the macro clicks, types, moves windows and talks to other apps. It is built to take over from Keyboard Maestro and BetterTouchTool. Five things are worth trying first.

Try it on the Mac. Press File > Import… to bring your Keyboard Maestro and BetterTouchTool setups across.

Try it on the iPhone. The iPhone Pad runs your exposed macros on your Mac with one tap.

Fix with AI

October 25, 2026 · Mac

When a macro fails, one button sends the macro and what went wrong to Claude, which proposes a fix: a sentence saying what it changed, and the changed steps. Nothing changes until you press Apply, which is one Undo and a version in History.

Try it on the Mac. Select a failed run in Activity and click Fix with AI, or press Command-I.

Layers: bare keys that run macros

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Press Hyper+S and, for a moment, every plain key is a macro. Give a group a layer, record the key that opens it, and its macros can use bare keys like J. A small list shows what each key does, so there is nothing to memorise, and it fades the moment you press one. Scope a layer to an app and it exists only there.

Try it on the Mac. Control-click a group, choose Layer…, record Hyper+S, give a macro the plain key J. Press Hyper+S in that app, then J.

Trigger on anything an MCP server knows

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Any MCP server you have added can now start a macro. Pick a resource, such as a pull request, an issue or a database row, and the macro runs when it changes, with no code per service.

Try it on the Mac. Add a server in Settings > Agents, then choose When > An MCP resource changes. Settings > Agents shows whether it is listening or polling.

Ask later, error dialogs, AI budgets

October 25, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

Four things macros could not do before. A macro can park a question in the Inbox instead of popping up a window, and carry on when you answer. It can react to any app's error dialog or to a form field taking focus. And you can see what AI steps cost and cap it.

Try it on the Mac. Open the Switchboard menu bar item: questions macros asked appear at the top with their buttons.

Try it on the iPhone. Questions from your macros appear at the top of the Activity tab, with a button for each answer.

Snippets

October 25, 2026 · Mac

Type ;addr and get your address. A snippet is an abbreviation and the text it becomes, with a place for the cursor, fields you fill in as it expands, dates like next Tuesday, the clipboard and the selection. Bring your snippets over from TextExpander, Alfred, Raycast or the Mac's own Text Replacements.

Try it on the Mac. Choose File › New Snippet (Control-Command-N), or open Snippets in the sidebar.

Triggers that watch, and States

October 25, 2026 · Mac · iPhone

Any condition can now be a trigger: run a macro when the battery drops, when Zoom stops running, when a value changes. Name a situation as a State, such as Deep work, and use it to start macros, to test, or to switch a group of hotkeys on only while it lasts. And a macro can park another run until a time or a condition, or wait for one.

Try it on the Mac. Open the Switchboard menu bar item: your States are listed with a dot. Choose one to force it on or off.

Try it on the iPhone. The Activity tab shows your States and the runs waiting for a condition.
