appDarkMode

Returns 1 when the app itself is showing in Dark Mode, 0 otherwise.

Keyboard Maestro: KMDARKMODE

Details #

appDarkMode() takes no arguments and returns 1 when the dark appearance is on, otherwise 0. In Switchboard it reads the same system appearance setting as darkMode, so the two give the same answer.

Parameters #

Takes 0 arguments. {{ appDarkMode() }}

Examples #

appDarkMode()
→ 0

Gotchas #

  • Switchboard has no appearance setting of its own, so this never differs from darkMode().

  • Calling it with any argument is an error: appDarkMode() takes 0 arguments, got 1.

  • When no real Mac is behind it (tests, previews) or the Mac can't answer, it returns 0.
