Actions for This

The hotkey for Actions for This. The types of your own it can recognize are in the Library.

Actions for This shows the macros that fit whatever you are on: selected text, a Finder file, a browser tab, a Mail message or what is under the pointer.

What's here #

  • Actions for This hotkey: Control Option Space is the usual key. Record a new key, or choose None to turn it off. Hold Shift with it to use the clipboard when nothing else is found.

  • Your types: how many types of your own you have, and Show in Library, which opens them in the main window under Thing Types in the sidebar.

In the Library #

The Thing Types item in the main window's sidebar holds the list.

  • Your types: add types of your own. Each has a Name, a Pattern, an Open link template, and Only in these apps.

  • Try it: paste some text to see what Switchboard recognizes in it.

  • Built in: the types that ship, such as links, emails and phone numbers.

Tricks #

  • You can also hold the palette key instead of tapping it to open the same card.

  • If a selection holds several things, Tab steps through them.

  • A type for a ticket number such as ABC-12 can open its page with Open link.
