Read an MCP resource

Reads one resource from an MCP server you added in Settings › Agents & MCP and keeps its text, or its parsed JSON.

Read uri from server

Details #

Reads a resource (a thing with a URI, such as github://repos/acme/app/issues/7) from one of the MCP servers in Settings › Agents. into gets an object with text (the content as text), json (the content parsed, present when the type is JSON or the text parses as an object or list), mimeType, uri and server.

Reading changes nothing on the server, so it needs the server to be turned on but no entry in the tool allowlist, and it asks nobody. A dry run reads for real.

Every step also accepts label, onFailure, timeout and dryRunSafe.

Gotchas #

  • A binary resource has no text; text then reads like [binary 2048 bytes].

  • If the server has no such resource, the step fails with that server's name and the address.
