Group
Holds a list of steps together under one name so they read and fail as a unit.
Group steps as name
Keyboard Maestro: Group
Details #
A Group runs its steps in order. It does nothing else. Use it to name a stretch of a macro and give it one onFailure rule for everything inside.
The Trace shows the Group as one row with its steps nested below, and the output reports how many steps it held.
Two steps under one name
Do
- Group “Say hello”
- Show “Hello”
- Show “World”
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
steps | list of steps | Yes | The steps inside. | |
name | text | A label for the stretch. |
Every step also accepts label, onFailure, timeout and dryRunSafe.
Examples #
Ignore failure of a whole block
Do
- Group “Optional extras”
- Show “Trying…”
- Show “Done”
Gotchas #
A Group is not a macro: it has no inputs, no result and no separate variables.
Not the same as a macro group in the Library, which holds macros and decides where they apply.
