Plays the macOS alert sound.

Details #

Plays the alert sound chosen in System Settings > Sound. It takes no parameters and has no output.

Use it as a quiet signal that a long macro has finished or that something needs a look. For a message you can read, use Show message or Show notification. To say something aloud, use Say aloud.

Gotchas #

  • The sound is the system alert, so it follows your Sound settings.

  • In a dry run the step is simulated and makes no sound.
