Hide app
Hides an app, or every open app except the ones you keep.
Hide app
Keyboard Maestro: HideSpecificApp
Details #
Hides the app, the same as choosing Hide from its menu (⌘H). Its windows go out of sight and the app keeps running. Activate app brings it back.
Name the app with app (a bundle id or a name) or bundleId. To hide many, set all to true. That hides every regular app except Finder and Switchboard. Add apps to except to keep them visible too.
If the app is not running, the step does nothing and says "wasn't running". The output lists the apps that were hidden.
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
all | yes / no | Hide every regular app, except Finder and Switchboard. | ||
app | text | The app to hide, by bundle id or name. Required unless all is on. | ||
bundleId | text | Another spelling of app. | ||
except | list of text | With all, a list of apps to leave visible. An app given together with all is also left visible. |
Every step also accepts label, onFailure, timeout and dryRunSafe.
Examples #
- Hide all apps except Notes
- Activate ‹app›
Gotchas #
