Choose a macro to run
Shows a list of macros, then runs the one you pick.
Choose a macro to run from macros
Keyboard Maestro: Trigger Macro by Name, Show Palette of Macros
Details #
Shows a list window of macro names, waits for you to pick one, then runs it as if by Run macro. The step's output is then the result of that run.
Which macros are listed:
With macros, only those. Give ids or names. Entries that match no macro are left out.
Without it, every macro that can be listed.
With run set to false, nothing runs: the step only returns the chosen name. If you also set into, the macro's name goes into that variable.
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
into | text | The variable that receives the chosen macro's name. | ||
macros | list of text | Ids or names of the macros to offer. | ||
run | yes / no | Run the chosen macro. Default true. | ||
title | text | The list window's title. Default "Macros". |
Every step also accepts label, onFailure, timeout and dryRunSafe.
Examples #
- Choose a macro to run
- Show “You picked {{ chosen }}” for 2 s
Gotchas #
With no macros to list, the step fails with "there are no macros to choose from".
Closing the list fails the step with "cancelled by you".
In a dry run nothing is asked. The first macro in the list is chosen and nothing runs.
The chosen macro runs under the usual rules of Run macro, so a macro that is disabled or missing fails there.
