Ask Send anyway? (guardrail)
Ends a guardrail's check with a small panel at the pointer. One button goes ahead, the other cancels, and Return cancels.
Ask first, saying reason
Details #
Ends the macro with the answer ask. A small panel opens at the pointer, with your reason and two buttons. It does not take the keyboard from the app, and the keys that answer it are:
| Key | Answer |
|---|---|
| Return, Esc | The cancel button. The safe default, so a reflexive second Return never sends. |
| Command-Return | The allow button. |
Clicking a button works too. While the panel is up, other keys you type are held and go to the app afterwards in order. A question nobody answers in a minute counts as Cancel.
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
reason | text | Yes | Required. The question, such as No attachment. The message mentions one. | |
allow | text | The button that goes ahead. Default Allow. | ||
cancel | text | The button that cancels. Default Cancel. |
Every step also accepts label, onFailure, timeout and dryRunSafe.
Examples #
- Before you quit TextEdit
- Ask “Quit TextEdit?” with “Quit”
Gotchas #
The time you take to answer is not counted against the guardrail's deadline.
This is not Ask later: nothing is parked in the Inbox. The action waits for you.
