Network change

Runs the macro when you join a Wi-Fi network, or when the network becomes reachable or unreachable.

The Mac joins Wi-Fi ssid

Keyboard Maestro: WirelessNetwork

Details #

Two forms:

  • With ssid, fires when you join the network with that name (not case sensitive).

  • Without ssid, fires when the Mac goes online (reachable true or left out) or offline (reachable false).

The first network reading after Switchboard starts only sets a baseline and fires nothing.

Location access. macOS only tells apps the Wi-Fi name when they have Location access. Without it the name is unknown and an ssid trigger cannot match. Reachable and unreachable triggers do not need it.

{{triggerValue}} is empty.

Secure input does not affect this trigger.

Every trigger also takes Limits: a cooldown, the first time each day, every nth time, twice within seconds, a chance, only while you are at the Mac, on one Mac, or in a State. See Limits on any trigger.

Gotchas #

  • Switching to another network while staying online fires joined for the new name, not reachable.

  • Not fired reasons: disabled, groupOff, scope, paused, conditionFalse.
