Idle

Runs the macro once when you have not touched the keyboard or mouse for a set time.

You are idle for after

Keyboard Maestro: Idle

Details #

Switchboard reads the time since your last keyboard, mouse or trackpad input about every three quarters of a second. When it reaches after seconds the macro fires once. It fires again only after you have been active and then idle for the full time again.

{{triggerValue}} is empty.

Secure input does not affect this trigger.

Parameters #

ParameterTypeRequiredValuesWhat it does
afternumberYesSeconds of inactivity to wait for. Two idle triggers with different times fire independently.

Every trigger also takes Limits: a cooldown, the first time each day, every nth time, twice within seconds, a chance, only while you are at the Mac, on one Mac, or in a State. See Limits on any trigger.

Examples #

Idle for five minutes
When
  1. The Mac is idle for 5 min
Do
  1. Show “Idle for five minutes”
Open in Switchboard to try it

Gotchas #

  • A running video or music does not count as input. The Mac may be "idle" while you watch.

  • Not fired reasons: disabled, groupOff, scope, paused, conditionFalse.
