Palette hotkey

Chooses the keyboard shortcut that opens the palette from any app.

Details #

Where: Settings › Palette, the Palette hotkey menu.

Key: paletteHotkey. Type: text. Default: option+space, shown as ⌥Space.

Choices:

  • ⌥Space (option+space)

  • ⇧⌥Space (shift+option+space)

  • ⇧⌘Space (command+shift+space)

⌃Space (input sources), ⌥⌘Space (Finder search) and ⌃⌥Space (VoiceOver) belong to macOS, so they are not offered. A value you put in settings.json by hand, or chose in an earlier version, that isn't in the list is kept and shown as an extra choice.

On a new install the palette starts on ⇧⌥Space when Raycast, Alfred or ChatGPT already uses ⌥Space; otherwise on ⌥Space. An existing settings.json is never changed.

Gotchas #

  • Some of these shortcuts are used by macOS for input sources and Spotlight. If a macro hotkey or another app already uses the one you pick, pick another.
