Keep history with git

Records each change to your Library as a commit in a hidden git repository.

Details #

Where: Settings › Sync, under History, the Keep history with git switch.

Key: keepGitHistory. Type: true/false. Default: off.

When on, your Library folder becomes a git repository in a hidden .git folder, and each change becomes a commit: every save, delete, rename and group change, plus changes made outside Switchboard (an agent's file, an editor). Commits are authored "Switchboard". Your own git settings and hooks aren't used, and nothing is pushed anywhere. You can browse or restore versions with git as well as with History (⌘Y).

Turning it off stops new commits. The .git folder stays where it is; delete it yourself if you don't want it.

Separately, the app's own History keeps every save of a macro as a version file (the newest 200 per macro) whatever this switch says.
