frontAppName

The display name of the app in front, such as Finder.

Keyboard Maestro: Application (%Application%1%)

Details #

Use it anywhere a {{ }} expression is allowed, as {{frontAppName}} in a step's text or as frontAppName inside a longer expression. It also works as a call, frontAppName(). It is the localized name shown in the Dock and menu bar. Use frontApp when you need to compare against something exact, since names can change with the system language.

A run variable with the same name wins. If a step stores something in a variable called frontAppName, {{frontAppName}} reads that variable, not the live value. Name your own variables something else.

Parameters #

Write it as {{frontAppName}} in any text field. A variable of the same name wins.
