Current thing
Passes when what you are on (the selection, the Finder selection, the browser tab, the Mail message) is a given type of thing, such as a link, an email address, a tracking number or one of your own types.
The current thing is a type
Details #
Inside a run that already has a thing (a macro that takes thing:<type>, or one that ran Get the current thing earlier) the condition checks that thing. Anywhere else it asks the Mac what you are on, the same way Get the current thing does, and checks every type the content can be (a copied "ABC-123" is jira and text).
Types: url, email, phone, date, address, file, tracking, gitSHA, color, code, json, number, iban, uuid, mail.message, text, your own from Library ▸ Thing Types, or any for "there is something".
Every condition accepts "negate": true.
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
type | text | The thing type to look for. any (or empty) passes whenever there is a thing. |
Gotchas #
Reading the selection can copy and restore the clipboard, so this condition can't be watched (
wait.until, States); use it in Only if, anifstep, or a hotkey's conditions.Nothing selected and nothing under the pointer: the condition fails.
