App running
Passes when an app is running, in front or not.
app is running
Keyboard Maestro: Application (Running, NotRunning)
Details #
Checks the running applications for one whose bundle identifier equals app, or whose name equals it ignoring case. Give bundleId instead of app if you prefer; app wins when both are set. One of them is required. With hidden set, the app must also be running and hidden (true) or running and not hidden (false).
Every condition accepts "negate": true, which flips the verdict. The trace records what was compared before the flip, so a negated condition that blocks a macro still shows the real values.
Conditions in an Only if list combine with all: every one must pass, and an empty list always passes. An if step or a repeat loop takes a match of all (default) or any.
The trace shows app and running, and hidden when you gave hidden.
Parameters #
| Parameter | Type | Required | Values | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
app | text | Bundle identifier or app name, such as com.apple.Music or Music. | ||
bundleId | text | Same as app, used only when app is left out. | ||
hidden | yes / no | true to require the app to be hidden, false to require it not hidden. Either way the app must be running. |

Gotchas #
A missing
appandbundleIdis an error, not a false verdict.
